What to do if your child is sick (COVID-19 protocols)

Please consult the Durham Region Health Department Fact Sheet for information about what you need to do if your child becomes ill at some point during this school year (2020-2021).

Mental Health

Durham District School Board (DDSB) considers well-being and positive mental health fundamental to student achievement. Students and/or their caregivers are encouraged to reach out to someone at school if they are feeling overwhelmed or discouraged. Support and Crisis Lines are also available.

R. S. McLaughlin offers students the opportunity to "Step Aside" by providing some calming activities during anxious moments. The activities can be accessed here

Crisis Help and Support Lines

The Durham District School Board (DDSB) wants to ensure that you have the resources you need to handle a crisis. Our students can experience a crisis in many ways, including:

  • Sexual assault
  • Substance abuse and addiction
  • Depression
